ICI – Sherbrooke is based on a circular governance model that involves distributed authority, in keeping with a network logic. The roundtable is premised on the following principles:

  • Power is distributed, not centralized.
  • Institutional stakeholders and organizations work for the cause as equals, with each one bringing their own expertise to the table.
  • The roundtable grows and develops based on the desired directions of each dedicated member.
  • The roundtable supports and facilitates connections between ideas and does not intervene directly in actions, but can provide strong support.
  • Committees have the legitimacy to make decisions given that they are experts on the subject and the context.
  • The committees are ad hoc and autonomous, but interdependent.
  • Major meetings are organized to inform, to address current events, and to exchange views on the progress of the committees.
  • The above principles establish a mode of governance that strives for agility, accountability and interdependence.
